After a drawn out first round of Supercoach that spread over 2 weekends the scores are finally in!
Supercoach scores were lower than expected with alot of the big names not delivering on their averages.
Team scoring and attacking stats were down on a whole but here we will identify the must haves after round 1.
Must Haves:
Zac Laybutt (465,600, CTW) - 103
2 Tries
1 Try assist
5 Tackle breaks
2 Line breaks
13 Runs
One of the most impressive scores for 2nd year man. He also finished the year last year scoring in the last 2 rounds of the 2023 season. Zac could be a try scoring machine in the making which would make him a must have at under 500k. Our verdict is to give him 1 more game before we pick him up before round 3.
Tyrell Sloan (542,000, FLB) - 103
3 Tries
2 Line breaks
1 Line break assist 4 Tackle breaks
1 Forced drop out
8 Runs
Tyrell has always had the talent but most of us weren't expecting this type of performance in round 1. We weren't sure if he had even locked down the fullback spot for the dragons but it looks like Tyrell has had a big offseason. Base stats still don't look good as he only had 8 runs and would be scoring under 30 without the attacking stats. Our verdict is to wait for a larger sample size before we commit to Tyrell to one of the premium fullback spots.
Raymond Faitala-Mariner (363,200, 2RF) - 81
1 Try assist
32 Tackles
5 Tackle breaks
3 Offloads
1 Line break assist
8 Runs
RFM was basically kicked out of the bulldogs and showed how silly the doggies looked by letting this beast walk. Also playing 74 mins on the edge RFM is a must have if he can hold his spot. With Luciano Leilua coming back in round 2 it will be interesting to see who's spot he takes. Our verdict is to see if RFM starts again in round 2 before we make this purchase.
